For the coffee lover who wants to put it in their cake and eat it!

This incredibly moist and nutty Coffee & Walnut Loaf Cake will satisfy those coffee cravings whilst helping you through an afternoon slump. The intense flavours of this cake will make it hard to resist. Use florence by mills coffee concentrate to make it easy!

recipe ingredients

  • 175g icing sugar (for the buttercream)
  • 180g butter
  • 180g dark brown sugar
  • 180g of self raising flower
  • 2 tbsp of coffee concentrate (for the buttercream)
  • 2 tbsp of Florence by Mills coffee concentrate
  • 55g chopped walnuts
  • 85g of softened butter
  • walnuts to decorate

this recipe uses

  • cooling rack
  • loaf tin
  • mixing bowl
  • spoon or spatula
  • sieve
Before you begin, preheat your oven to 175C.


Recipe steps


  1. In a bowl, cream the butter and sugar until fluffy.

  2. Then add your florence by mills coffee concentrate and mix together thoroughly.

  3. Add the eggs one at a time and beat well into the mixture, between each one.

  4. Sieve and fold in the flour and then the walnuts.

  5. Spoon the mixture into a lined 2lb loaf tin and bake for approximately 45 minutes, or until a skewer comes out clean.

  6. Remove from the oven and allow to cool briefly before lifting out and placing onto a wire rack to cool completely.

  7. For the buttercream topping, in a bowl cream the butter and sugar until light, then add your florence by mills coffee concentrate. Spread over the top of the cake and scatter with chopped walnuts.

  8. Slice and enjoy
